Set a casual or "Farm" type table at any meal, in any season, with these lovely vintage dishes!
This Poppy & Rose design was introduced by Homer Laughlin in the 1930's and continued in production through the mid-1950's. This pattern is perhaps one of the most popular Homer Laughlin designs beyond their Fiesta. Most of the coordinating pieces in this pattern; plates, bowls, etc... were made in the Kwaker shape. The cups and saucers with the Poppy & Rose design however were made in multiple shapes.
In Excellent Condition, these cups and saucers are one of the "fancier" shapes made in the Poppy & Rose. The saucers have scalloped edges and the cups have decorative bottoms. The bright floral pattern remains sharp on all four cups and saucer sets. The saucers show occasional utensil marks that can best be seen when held at an angle to the light. No crazing, nicks, or chips are noted. These have been very well cared for! Three of the four saucers carry the Homer Laughlin mark though one seems to have gotten through production without it. The Homer Laughlin Company marked their dishes at this time with a number and letter code indicating the plant where they were manufactured and the year that piece was made. Two of these saucers indicate they were made in 1953 while one indicates 1949.
The design of Orange Poppies, Yellow Roses, and Black Leaves by Homer Laughlin is informally known as "Poppy & Rose" by most collectors, "Olivia" by others, and tagged as "Ivora" by some.
