Set a casual or "Farm" style table at any meal, in any season, with these lovely vintage dishes! These 9" Poppy & Rose Plates are a perfect size for Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner! The price is for the set of four.
This Poppy & Rose design was introduced by Homer Laughlin in the 1930's and continued in production through the mid-1950's. This pattern is perhaps one of the most popular Homer Laughlin designs beyond their Fiesta. Most of the coordinating pieces in this pattern; plates, bowls, etc... were made in the Kwaker shape. The cups and saucers with the Poppy & Rose design however were made in multiple shapes.
In Very Nice Condition, the bright floral pattern remains sharp on all four of the 9" plates. The plates have occasional utensil marks. No crazing noted. One of the plates has a small imperfection on the upper side by one of the floral designs and is shown specifically in the eighth and ninth photos. Another plate has a small nick under the rim and is shown close up in the last photo. All four plates carry the Homer Laughlin mark. The Homer Laughlin Company marked their dishes at this time with a number and letter code indicating the plant where they were manufactured and the year that each piece was made. Two of these plates indicate they were made in 1949, while one indicates 1953 and another 1954.
The design of Orange Poppies, Yellow Roses, and Black Leaves by Homer Laughlin is informally known as "Poppy & Rose" by most collectors, "Olivia" by others, and tagged as "Ivora" by some. You may wish to see other items in this pattern within this shop and create your own place settings. The last photo shows one of these plates with a soup bowl and a cup and saucer. Currently these other items are available in this shop.
The price is for all Four plates. If you are looking for a piece in this pattern that you do not find in this shop, please email as I have an extensive personal collection of these dishes and might be able to list what you are looking for. Thanks.
